JÁN M. BAHNA
Prof. akad. arch. ing. arch.

Born on April the 4th 1944 in Pukanec, Slovak Republic. He studied architecture at Technical University in Bratislava (1961 - 1967) and at Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava (1967 - 1970). Between years 1971 and 1990 worked in The State Store Planning Department (Štátny projektový ústav obchodu), focused mainly on designing trade buildings. Since 1990 Jan Bahna has worked in his private AA Atelier of Architecture as an authorized architect of SKA (Slovak Architects Chamber). His work covers bank, business and residential buildings as well as several reconstructions of historical buildings and some of modern architecture from the 30s. Most of his works are situated in Bratislava.

In 1990 he became the professor of the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava. He is the member of Academic Council and the head of master atelier. In his master atelier 82 masters of architecture graduated (from Slovakia and abroad). He is a lector of doctoral study at the department of architecture.

At present Ján Bahna is the President of the Slovak Architects Society.

He is also a member of editorial boards of several architectural journals and member of many international architectural juries.

He is curator of the distinguished exhibition of Slovak architecture 1900 - 2003 which is travelling through Europe.
